Sometimes the same horseshoe relies on the eagle's breast, and coat keeps the same name Yastrzhembets. This is the emblem of the book. Polubinskih and Lukomski (Lithuania). The beginning of this emblem belongs to the reign of Boleslaw the Brave.
On the origin of the emblem there is a legend (according to B. Paprocki) and supported by other historians. In one of the raids of the Gentiles (about 999 ) was captured by Bald Mountain, named after the mountain of the Holy Cross. Gore has become a well-protected fortress because of its steep icy slopes are insurmountable for the cavalry. Gentiles, knowing their invulnerability, and seeing some confusion of the enemy, haughtily ridiculed by Polish soldiers, inviting to fight for Christ of any of them.
Knight received a call Yastrzhembchik, "impressed by the faith and the glory of God." He is the author came up with a horseshoe on the horse's hoof, shod his warhorse and, thanks to the invention was able to overcome the forbidding slopes of the mountains, descended into a fight with an arrogant strong man-Pagan and ... took him prisoner. And then deliver a hapless opponent King Boleslaw the Brave. Thus, Knight Yastrzhembchik set an example to other soldiers of the Polish cavalry, who, versed their horses, quickly overcame the slippery hill and smashed the enemy. The victory was complete. As a reward for his heroic act was a knight from the king of the changes in the coat of arms. On his shield was added horseshoe with a cross and a helmet was placed a hawk.
